Octavio Duran, Jr.
Octavio Duran, Jr. dedicates his practice to representing individuals and families in personal injury and wrongful death actions. Having worked at a well respected personal injury and wrongful death law firm prior to joining Willens Law Offices, he brings with him a wealth of solid experience.
Octavio’s positive attitude and roll-up-your-sleeves up work ethic sets him apart from the pack. He understands what it takes to achieve justice for the firm’s clients who have been harmed by negligence and works tirelessly on their behalves. In addition, he speaks fluent Spanish.
Octavio started Michigan State University College of Law on a scholarship. He finished as the Class President. During law school, he also served as Vice-President of the Public Interest Law Society and as the liaison for the Hispanic Law Society and for Phi Alpha Delta. In addition, he was a member of the Moot Court Trial and Advocacy Board where he became a semi-finalist in the National Trial Competition and the American Association for Justice Competition.
Prior to receiving his law degree, Mr. Duran tried multiple misdemeanor bench trials for the Cook County Public Defender’s Office under the authority of the Illinois Supreme Court and the certification of the Dean of his law school. Mr. Duran acquired the ability to represent clients because he was a senior law school student in great academic standing. He handled cases ranging from battery to destruction of property, and he won all of his cases.
Even after receiving his law degree, Mr. Duran continues to serve his alma matter. Recently, he was appointed as the Local Chapter Liaison for the Michigan State University College of Law Chicago Alumni Chapter. As the Local Chapter Liaison, Mr. Duran was tasked with advancing the Chapter’s Mission, which is to “to create a lifelong community of alumni through increased opportunities for meaningful engagement in order to increase awareness, pride, participation, volunteer involvement, and philanthropic commitment to MSU College of Law.”
Octavio has a humanitarian spirit that is hard to match. He volunteers much of his free time to mentoring kids from underprivileged communities and to other various causes. He spends some of his free time running and cycling and participates in triathlons and biking events. He often combines his desire for helping others with his love for athletics and can often be found competing or participating in a charitable event. As one example, he participates in events such as The Bike MS: Tour de Farms – a charity biking event aimed at raising money to find a cure for multiple sclerosis.
Willens Law Offices is proud to have Octavio Duran, Jr. as part of its personal injury legal team.
