Is your vehicle affected by the recent safety recall by Ford Motor Company?
The number of automotive recall notices have increased to an all-time high. Some car owners have received multiple recall notices for defects ranging from minor problems to ones that require major repairs.
Ford Motor Company Safety Recalls
Ford Motor Company has issued two new recalls affecting approximately 283,000 different Ford vehicles. The first of the two recalls is for 81,000 Ford Explorer sports-utility vehicles (SUV) and police interceptor models that were built between 2014 and 2015. The problem is found with the rear suspension not having been properly welded.
The second recall is for 202,000 vehicles, affecting different sedans, trucks, and SUVs, that have a faulty transmission. The defect can cause the vehicle to downshift suddenly and without warning, increasing the risk of car accidents and collisions.
Is Your Vehicle Affected?
Owners of these vehicles who have not received a notice are being encouraged to reach out to their local dealerships to discuss what options are available and how safe their vehicles are to drive. Any repairs that are needed are done at no cost to the vehicle owner.
Several car manufacturers have failed to perform adequate testing of their vehicles or to properly the assembly processes. It is not only the drivers who are put at risk with these safety hazards; passengers, other motorists on the roadway, pedestrians, and bicyclists can be injured in an accident involving one of these vehicle defects.
While there are laws in the U.S. that enforce minimal safety standards for any type of vehicle being sold in the country, any number of defects, faulty equipment, and other hazards may go undiscovered before the vehicles enter the road. In the state of Illinois, when a safety defect such as the ones mentioned above are the cause of a vehicle accident, the victims should be made aware of their entitlement to compensation for bodily injury and property damages.
