Octavio Duran, associate attorney from Willens Law Offices, was recently appointed as the Local Chapter Liaison for the Michigan State University College of Law Chicago Alumni Chapter.
As the Local Chapter Liaison, Mr. Duran will be tasked with advancing the Chapter’s Mission, which is to “to create a lifelong community of alumni through increased opportunities for meaningful engagement in order to increase awareness, pride, participation, volunteer involvement, and philanthropic commitment to MSU College of Law.”
“This is a great honor for me, “ Mr. Duran said, “now I’m in a position to better serve my fellow alumni in the Chicagoland area, and hopefully I can help our chapter grow into a more cohesive body.”
Mr. Duran was appointed as the Local Chapter Liaison after successfully assisting the MSU Alumni Association Board in coordinating two networking events, one where the MSU Law School Dean visited the alumni at an event held at the Willis Tower. Mr. Duran was admitted into the Alumni Association Board shortly after graduating from the MSU Law School in 2011 and he currently serves on various subcommittees.
“Our Chapter is still in its beginning stages, so I’m currently working with the Alumni Association Board to create our Bylaws,” Mr. Duran said, “we have over 200 alumni from the MSU Law School in the Chicagoland area and I hope this Chapter will create a centralized means of communication so we can all assist one another.” Mr. Duran will be reviewing the Bylaws with the Alumni Association Board over the next month and hopes they will be approved shortly thereafter to establish a formal Law School Alumni Chapter in Chicago. “The sky is the limit with this Chapter, I hope to get plenty of input from the MSU Law Alumni in the Chicagoland area to make this Chapter a successful one.”
